January is Founders month for many Historic Black Sororities and Fraternities. I received Happy Founders Day messages on January 13th because I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Two days later, on January 15th, I made sure to reach out to my favorite members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha, as it was their Founders Day.
In one of my messages, I texted, “I am so happy ‘Greekdom’ brought us together.” My friend corrected me in her text. She stated, “it wasn’t ‘Greekdom, it was God. He is fully woven into this relationship.”
Even in our seemingly simplest, innocent connections, we have to remember it is not because of us or by chance we meet friends. It is God’s doing.
I do not believe we pause often enough or long enough to give thought or thanks to God who is literally involved in all aspects of our lives. I know I don’t. I just move through my day conducting daily tasks, chatting with friends and family as if there’s nothing to it. But the truth is something incredibly special is happening. God literally connects us to the very people He knows will add value to our lives. So, friends, I encourage you today to pause and thank God for the amazing people He has planted in your life. He deserves praise and thanks for everything!
