In preparing to celebrate my 40th birthday, I am encountering barriers to my plans. My outfit was not coming together as I had envisioned it. I was disappointed that I could not get the dress I had purchased altered to my specifications. In my despair, I went to visit my mother. I said, “Mom, I feel disappointed that the tailor said, “It is impossible to make this work for you.” My mother gave a sigh. I asked her, “What does that noise mean?” She responded, “There is always a solution!”

When we finished our visit, her words lingered with me. Any challenges I come up against since then, I find myself standing more confident repeating to myself, “Relax Morgan, there is always a solution.”

As you and I travel through life, we will encounter obstacles. Our plans may get derailed; the timing we have set to accomplish something may get delayed. During these times, it is easy to become frustrated, stressed, or discouraged. In these moments, I encourage you to pause, to take a deep breath, and recalibrate. Sometimes we just need to take a moment to gather our thoughts and to refocus. Because in the words of my amazing mother:

“There is always a solution.”
